What is inflammation?
Human body activates the inflammation to respond to an injury, infection or damaged cells and to start the healing process. The signs of infection are, pain, swelling, redness and loss of function. The following photo is courtesy of Wikipedia, which shows inflammation in the toe.
Inflammation is not necessarily infection even though an infection causes an inflammation. Infection is caused by a bacterium, virus or fungus. Inflammation is the response to the infection to heal the infection.
The first stage of inflammation is called irritation and then it becomes inflammation. There are several types of inflammation: acute, chronic, etc. The risk to inflammation is high for people that are obese.
Some herbs have anti-inflammatory properties. Some of these are: ginger, turmeric, cannabis, etc
